Technical Note: Deno 4.2 Charging Cell Upgrade

Deno charging cells were updated in November 2023 to improve power performance under low-light conditions.

Deno models 4.2 and higher have an upgraded charging cell to improve charging performance under low light conditions.  The new cell also eliminates shunt faults that have been detected in some earlier cells that led to premature charging failure.

If you have a Deno 4.1 or earlier version experiencing slow charging, please submit a ticket to Denowatts. There are two actions we can take depending on the severity:

  1. Remote correction: Raise the Day threshold from 100 w/m2 to 300 w/m2.  This provides 1-minute sampled data with 5-minute records for light conditions under 300 w/m2 and usually helps maintain power for the Deno sensor.
  2. Replacement: Denowatts will ship replacement Deno sensors for units that appear to have developed shunt faults.

We are very sorry for any inconvenience this may cause.
